Beyond the Trees
Avondale House originally home to the Parnell family is where you will find Beyond the Trees at Avondale, a tree-top walk where visitors journey through the Forest and get a new perspective, right up there in the canopy.
There is a unique walkway covering around 1.4 km that is accessible for buggies and wheelchairs and reaches a height of 23m at its highest. The walk ends with a viewing tower 38m above the forest floor. There are information points along the walkway telling you about what you are looking at and some fun play areas for the young and the young at heart.
Your visit will not be complete without at least considering the 90m spiral slide from the viewing tower down to ground level it’s lots of fun. Our team members’ tip is to get there early as the queue for the slide can be long on busy days.
There is a guided tour of the House which has to be booked but is well worth it, you can learn more about when this 19th-century house was home to a Forestry school and learn a little of the lives of the Parnell family.
